We want to make the academic and life goals of our middle school students a reality. We start with clear objectives –- our core values -– that every scholar can see, utilize and put into regular use in their daily lives.
Our THINK model reflects our core values: Team, Hard Work, Integrity, Nobility, and Knowledge. These five values are displayed throughout the school building and guide students and staff in all aspects of our school life together. We reinforce these ideas and concepts in multiple ways throughout the school day and we see their positive influence on our scholars’ academic performance.
Team: We use a group-based model where each cohort is named after a college or university. Our students also work collaboratively in pairs and pods and we ask students to help each other to learn and grow, whenever possible.
Hard Work: We know we ask a lot, and we also provide a lot. We ask for our students to meet us halfway. Our scholars have homework five days a week and we schedule dedicated tutoring time each afternoon – for one and all.
Integrity: We keep an eye on our students and love to see them shine. We see when they are acting as leaders, even when they think no one is looking. They may help a peer, set an example, or resist temptation. We teach our students to fail fast and move forward.
Nobility: This incorporates taking pride and care of our facilities as well as ourselves. Some students clean our school bus each morning. Nobility can also include pride in self – showing up for school with shirts tucked in and collars on straight, ready to go. And nobility can mean our students have double-checked their work and given their best.
Knowledge: We celebrate our students who seek to learn and know more. We reward inquisitive, curious minds and engaged, active scholars. We aim to see and hear mastery of topics and the use of scholarly language.
