Vanguard Collegiate of Indianapolis secures new facility

Partnership with the Hawthorne Community Center opens new opportunities for students

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 28, 2020)––Vanguard Collegiate of Indianapolis, a public charter school serving students in the 5th to 8th grades, is pleased to announce that starting the 2020-21 school year, it will be located in the Hawthorne Community Center (2440 West Ohio Street), and students will have access to services through the community center.

“We will be less than two miles away from our former school building,” said Robert Marshall, founder and executive director of Vanguard Collegiate. “This presents tremendous opportunities for us to improve the services for our scholars’ families in conjunction with the Hawthorne Community Center.”

Moving to the Hawthorne Community Center will allow Vanguard Collegiate scholars and their families to access services such as:

  • Before/After Care
  • Youth Basketball League
  • Employment Services
  • Financial Coaching
  • Food Pantry
  • Emergency Income Support

“Our mission is being fulfilled in this partnership with Vanguard Collegiate,” said Caleb Sutton, executive director of the Hawthorne Community Center. “In welcoming them into our home, they’re able to expand the programs essential to their families, and we are able to regularly serve the hundreds of scholars, staff and family members associated with Vanguard Collegiate.”

Community partnerships have long been central to Vanguard Collegiate of Indianapolis’ success. Every partnership is strategically developed to ensure every student can meet and/or exceed the school’s academic expectations for the scholars who attend.

In serving middle school students and their families in Indiana for years, school leaders and award-winning staff members recognize that scholars enter middle school with a wide range of academic proficiencies. The school has set up supports and services to ensure every scholar is able to reach rigorous educational goals through individualized attention and clear action plans.

The new address for Vanguard Collegiate of Indianapolis is: 2440 W Ohio St, Indianapolis, and school is scheduled to start on August 17.
